No Trick or Treating for Jack O'Lantern

My
costume is ignored,
Because
I'm just a gourd.
Can't
cackle like a witch,
My
lips don't even twitch.
White
ghosts can scare with boo-
An
orange one wouldn't do.
No
flapping like a bat,
You
need two arms for that.
It's
hard to trick or treat,
I
don't have any feet.
Without
my belly spark
I
would hide in the dark.
What
goblins do I see?
The
treaters came to me!

Clearly...Halloween is over here! The porch light is off, the candy bowl is empty and the pumpkin can have his rest. Cute poem - I like the belly spark line!

ReplyDeleteMy sister went trick or treating as a pumpkin, as an adult, perfect costume to disguise her pregnant belly. ;)
I was a pumpkin when I was five and remember winning a contest at a park. I thought it was AWESOME! No, it WAS awesome because my mom made the costume. I cringe when my daughter wants a store costume of "Barbie Mermaid" - ugh gag!
